摘要：The timelike extremal submanifolds in physical spacetimes are governed by a system of nonlinear hyperbolic differential equations, other than elliptic partial differential equations for minimal submanifolds. In this talk, we would like to review some recent results on the global existence, stability, as well as singularity formation for extremal submanifolds. Moreover, we shall give some progress on the (hyperbolic) mean curvature flow, which is related to the extremal submanifolds.  

个人简介：黄守军，安徽师范大学教授，研究方向为双曲型偏微分方程及其应用。先后在SIAM J. Appl. Math., Proc. R. Soc. Lond. Ser. A, J. Math. Phys.等杂志发表论文20余篇，主持国家自然科学基金项目2项，以及安徽省自然科学基金面上项目1项。曾访问香港大学、香港城市大学和美国Lehigh大学等高校。
